Jhubei Drum Festival: A-Lin (阿玲)

One of the headliners for the drum concert in Jhubei was A-Lin, or 阿玲, a female Taiwanese singer of aboriginal decent who is gaining popularity. I was able to get quite close even though I was sandwiched in by adoring fans. Most of these are ranging from ISO 1600 to 3200 due to the dramatic darker lighting styles used.

Before I post the photos, here is a music video of hers. I’m not especially into Taiwanese pop (though I do have a soft spot for Crowd Liu) though it works wonders when learning the language.

NYE Concert, Part 3, 林育羣

林育羣, or Lin Yuchun, has skyrocketed to fame in Taiwan and the US after being recognized as “Taiwan’s Susan Boyle” during the Taiwanese version of American Idol.  He was the only one I recognized by sight/sound and as you can see, he has a pretty impressive voice.  I’ll post the video first, from “One Million Star” (超級星光大道) – the TV show that he appeared on which bridged his trip to stardom (and American TV talk shows) within a very short amount of time.

NYE Concert, Part 2, 嚴爵

These are some shots of 嚴爵 (Yen Jue), a popular Taiwanese pop star.  He was pretty well-liked by the women in the crowd and I had no clue he was famous until my girlfriend pointed this out to me :)

I liked the lighting here, but really am wanting to get a faster lens for shoots like this.  Thankfully, my D5000 handles VERY well in low-lighting with high ISO, so the f/4.5-5.6 wasn’t a huge impediment.

For the stars well-known enough to have music videos, I’ll embed a Youtube clip for each of their posts.  Here’s one below for Yin Jue.
