Priests at Mazu Temple

This was taken at a recent celebration at Mazu Temple, Jhubei. These men were part of a group of about seven who participated in a small “side ceremony” as festivities and fireworks filled the rest of the area. My 35mm … Continue reading

Experimenting in Lightroom

As I mentioned a few days ago, my MacBook went kaput. Thankfully, everything’s backed up and the hard drive is still alive. This did leave me, however, without a photo processing tool. I’ve always used Aperture 3 just because it … Continue reading

Single Shot: Opera at Jhubei Mazu Temple

This opera performance was taking part during a temple re-dedication last weekend. Due to some computer problems, you might expect fewer pictures. While this doesn’t affect my posting, it affects my post-processing – hopefully this doesn’t last long!

Single Shot: Hanging Incense Pot

This shot is an extra from a visit I made last year to Hsinpu Persimmon Orchard. The Orchard is set in a somewhat remote location and is famous for its sun-dried persimmons.

Single Shot: Temple Ceiling, Hsinchu

This ceiling style is pretty common in Taiwanese temples, and this particular temple is located in Hsinchu’s shopping district. You’ll notice plenty of Taoist symbolism simply in the way the red lines radiate from the Yin-Yang in the center, which … Continue reading

More from Mazu Temple, Jhunan

These shots include the statue from Mazu Temple, which I recently posted about. This statue is apparently the largest in Taiwan of Mazu and is quite an intimidating sight when you first approach the temple. It sits on a platform … Continue reading
